The Access Foundation has awarded £5,000 to Saheli Hub to run its Saturday Club — eight inclusive play sessions for children and young people with disabilities in Birmingham. Each session, running for 3.5 hours, will provide up to 45 children with opportunities to enjoy sensory play, creative activities, outdoor games and enrichment workshops, supported by trained staff and volunteers.

Saheli Hub, based in Birmingham, works to improve health, wellbeing and social inclusion in the community. In partnership with Balsall Heath Children’s Action Team Support (CATs), the charity supports families of children and young people with disabilities, helping them to feel less isolated and more connected.

For many families, these sessions are life-changing. They provide a safe and welcoming space for children to build friendships, grow in confidence and simply have fun, while also giving parents and carers valuable respite.

One parent shared, “CATS is the one space our family feels safe and included. My child looks forward to every session — it gives them a chance to have fun, make friends and be themselves.”
