Ian Little – Trustee

Ian has spent the last four decades working in finance, starting out as a trainee in Deloitte's Corporate Restructuring division in the mid-1980s and going on to hold FD and CFO roles across a number of tech businesses. He's now, as he puts it, "coming into land" at the end of his career.
His connection to Access goes back a long way. He joined the business in 1997 when it had around 35 employees and a £1 million turnover and spent 14 years there before moving on in 2011. Having worked elsewhere since, he's never changed his view of the place. "It's a one-in-a-million business led by standout people" he says.
Ian joined the Foundation Board six months after its launch in 2021, becoming a trustee on his 57th birthday. His role focuses on the financial oversight of the foundation. At the heart of his role as a trustee is a belief in fairness. He was given opportunities that shaped his career and his life, and he wants the Foundation to do the same for others. He and his wife are also foster carers and his mum is living with dementia, so seeing Dementia UK supported as the Access Charity of the Year meant a lot to him.
Outside of his trustee role, Ian is based in Ipswich, where he is actively involved in his local church. He loves sport, watches more than he plays these days, and counts trips to see England play cricket in the West Indies among his favourite things. He's also a West Ham supporter, though he's said all he wants to say on that subject. As he steps back from full-time work, he is planning to play more golf and, on the right holiday, a bit of sailing when the weather allows.
